Collective Bargaining, in its most grassroots form, as the process by which an organized group of employees, in the form of trade unions, negotiate with employers, their representatives or their associations in notification to any aspect of employment within the employers organization. Its a professional referees job to find out that games run smoothly, so its perhaps no surprise that the absence seizure of refs from this seasons NFL games thanks to contract disputes between the league and the referees union has take to almost unprecedented chaos.
The league wants to supersede the officials pension storehouse with a 401K. For the most part, this doesnt seem too absurd. If you have rough sort of company provided retirement plan, Id bet that its far much likely that to have a 401K than a pension. Pensions, while nice, further arent done much anymore.



Still, I can kind of infer the NFL Referee Associations (NFLRA) position that they are having something certain taken away(p) from them with no additional compensation.
In yesterdays NFL, there were 17 umpirage crews employed by the NFL one for each game and thus an extra. The NFL is proposing to raise this to 20 crews, with the idea being that the spare refs would replace officials with bad on-field performance and would be a pool for salad dressing future officials. The NFLRA is balking at this because they see it as a threat to jobs and a reduction in pay. See, officials get salaried by the game, so if games are distributed among more officials, each jackass gets a smaller share of the pie.
